Features 01
Expected Problems
?Al foils and Cu foils are used in conventional current collectors. However, application of materials with higher strength/higher corrosion resistance is needed to improve LIB durability and life.
?Stainless steel foil is a promising material for LIB current collectors, but its cycle property is poor due to its low surface conductivity.
Features 02
Technology highlight
?A technology for applying fine roughness to the stainless steel foil surface by etching the foil in an acidic aqueous solution was established.
?Interfacial resistance is reduced by increasing the contact area between the surface of the foil and the active material layer of the electrode due to the fine roughness. Cycle performance is also improved by increasing surface conductivity.
?The Cr oxide film formed on the surface is stabilized by adding at least a certain amount of Cr to the stainless foil. Cr addition also secures corrosion resistance in the battery environment.
